A few weeks ago, there were rumors about the Lenovo Legion Go, a handheld gaming device that would add to the growing range of this type of machine. Now, Windows Report says they have obtained the first official images.

A few years ago, a portable console appeared on Lenovo’s German website. It was called Legion Play and was little more than a mention. In the end, the device was not introduced. But Lenovo continued to work on it, and now we’re getting confirmation in pictures.

How is the Lenovo Legion Go?

The images show us a design reminiscent of the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally. But if you take a closer look, you can see that the device looks a lot more like a Switch console two removable controllers which are undeniably similar to the joyous cons of the Nintendo machine.

We are talking about the external design, of course, because the Lenovo device will run further Windows 11 and will have little in common with the Switch aside from its approach to mobile gaming. Apart from playing with the drivers installed, it will probably work like a standard tablet after removing them. It is expected to be slightly larger than the Steam Deck sa 8 inch touch screen.

As for ports, the report mentions two USB Type-C ports, one on the bottom and one on the top. The device has a 3.5mm headphone jack, volume rocker keys, power button and a micro SD card slot for internal memory expansion purposes. It also has a stand on the back that can be pulled out to place the handheld on a table. Also quite similar to the Nintendo Switch, specifically the OLED version that has a bigger stand.

The Lenovo Legion Go has all the buttons you’d expect on a handheld console, including side buttons and a trigger. It also appears to have triggers on the back and a wheel on the side of the right controller, which is unclear as to what it might be used for. This controller is the one with a touchpad, while others like the Steam Deck have a touchpad on each side of the screen.

In the images, we can see a large air vent on the back of the device. This may indicate that your handheld may have a large fan (or fans) to help keep the device’s temperature under control during long gaming sessions. And it looks thicker than the ASUS Ally, but that could mean large battery solve one of the big problems of this type of machine: its low autonomy.

According to previous information, its engine would be based on the latest Ryzen processors for laptops, the so-called Phoenix 7040, which would work on Windows 11. If realized, it would be a top-of-the-line model designed for AAA games, allowing cloud gaming or running games from libraries like Steam or GOG. We do not know the price or availability.
