Archaeologists discovered a 5,000-year-old dragon figurine made from mussel shells during excavations in China.
The unusual find was made in the Chifenyu region, the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, and is attributed to the Hongshan Neolithic culture. According to the newspaper’s report, this discovery could fill a gap in knowledge about the symbolism of the dragon. Global Times.
According to excavation chief Hu Chunbo, the jigsaw puzzle-like image of an ancient artist was put together from several shells that formed the head, torso, and tail of a magnificent creature. Its length is about 20 centimeters and its structure reflects a deep understanding of anatomy and art.
