Apple is developing a new iPad Pro 2024, which would be the first major revision in half a decade. The goal is nothing more than to revive the tablet category stagnant in salesaccording to what Bloomberg tells us.

The iPad continues to be the big name in electronic tablets, with a market share that consulting firms estimate at 37%. But like the rest of the sector, it is in deep crisis. Sales fell to the lowest level since the start of the COVID pandemic and according to Apple’s latest financial results was the worst performing division.

The company insisted that its premium tablets were a laptop replacement, but the truth is that it convinced few people. New laptops from the company with custom ARM chips (especially the new Air 15) they are extremely attractive and we honestly don’t think your customers will see a tablet as a replacement. The company also doesn’t want to bring more Mac features to the iPad. Simply put: Apple has an ‘enemy at home’.

Another complication is the global economic situation, the rise in inflation and, with it, the general increase in the price of electronic products. Add this to a lack of interest in new products, and it stands to reason that customers are holding on to their equipment longer.

iPad Pro 2024, aim to restore the soil

But it has the task of reviving tablet sales by restoring its peak with the biggest recovery in five years. For starters, these will be Apple’s first tablets with a screen OLED, which will undoubtedly give them a plus in image quality, contrast and support of color palettes compared to the IPS Liquid Retina used until now. LG will supply the panels in sizes 11 and 13 inches.

Another of the changes aims to improve performance and we’re talking about Apple’s M3 self-made chips, which will mark another level leap in all parts, with 12-core versions of the CPU, 18-core GPU and 36 GB of RAM, and better energy efficiency thanks to the transition to manufacturing processes 3 nanometers which will use the TSMC foundry on these chips. No changes are expected in the cameras, imaging technology and sensors with a leading role for LiDAR.

Another important innovation will be its accessories, important considering Apple’s approach. And it’s that Apple will offer a refreshed Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad that will address the complaints of the current one and make the iPad Pro feel even more like a laptop than the current configuration.

The new iPad Pro will not be part of the September shows, where the new iPhone 15 will be in the limelight. The iPad Pro 2024 will be released in the spring of next year.
