Social media platform X is adjusting its privacy policy to collect more data from users, including biometric data but also their professional background.

X has new ones Privacy Policy published. It states that your biometric data will be stored from September 29, provided that you have of course given your consent. In July, a lawsuit was filed against the company, then called Twitter, for doing so unlawfully.

The privacy policy does not explicitly explain what biometric data is involved, but it does point out that it is necessary to secure your account. This indicates that it may be your fingerprint and/or facial expression. A Twitter employee also confirmed the news to Bloomberg.

But there’s more, because X wants to know more about you than your fingerprint or the color of your eyes. The changed data protection regulations also burden the network with fishing off personal data from users. X sets up a job posting service for verified company accounts and in order to connect the right people with the right job postings, it makes sense if you share your education or work history with the platform, for example.

So Elon Musk and his colleagues seem to have big plans with the new job posting. This fuels speculation here and there that Musk is making X a competitor to LinkedIn. These rumors are based only on a tweet in the Musk LinkedIn’Ring’ and would like to develop an alternative that would be much “cooler”.

However, given his odd leaps, you never know if Musk is joking or dead serious. We therefore recommend all X users to read the new data protection conditions carefully before accepting them.
