Japanese startup Wota is developing a system for treating domestic wastewater.
This was reported by NHK, according to Ukrinform’s report.
Most of the country’s water pipes were laid in the mid-1950s and early 1970s. It is expensive to repair or replace, and household incomes decline as the population declines.
The new system collects, disinfects, processes and reuses domestic wastewater.
The company began testing on the remote islands that make up Tokyo in May and in a mountainous region in the western prefecture of Ehime in August.
The company hopes the system will be widely implemented by 2030, especially in regions with limited budgets.
A group of Japanese companies is engaged in the development of the world’s first plastic beverage bottles made from petroleum-based materials, Ukrinform reported.
