Currently, the Ukrainian army is being trained in the Slovak Zuzana self-propelled units. This was reported by “European Reality” with reference to Actuality. Currently, no agreement has been signed on the purchase of this wheeled ACS for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“I can confirm that the training of the Ukrainians in this technique is already ongoing, so there is a serious and very intense interest, and you are the first to confirm this,” said Defense Minister Jaroslav Nagy. Slovak newspaper.

He did not comment on the details of the deal, however. It is still unknown when they will finally be able to conclude the contract and at what price they will buy artillery. However, it is noted that some ACS can be delivered almost instantly once signed.

“It should be noted that these are machines that are in production. So we need to give some of them immediately or in the coming weeks. And then some over the next months,” Nagy said.

According to the minister, gradually Ukrainians should get at least eight units, but there may be more. We remind you that earlier the media reported that Ukraine plans to purchase 2 batteries of artillery units made in Slovakia, namely 16 ACS batteries of 155 mm caliber. It was noted that at that time it would take a week to learn calculations in Ukrainian.

Production of Zuzana ACS in Slovakia was established in the 1990s. The basis for this was Czechoslovak vz.77 Dana. But the new self-propelled unit received a 155 mm gun with a longer barrel, which increased the range. Slovakia started the planned replacement of the Zuzana ACS with the new Zuzana 2 last year. The first eight new 155mm ACS were delivered on 22 July 2021. Source
