Why Russian car owners without exception face timing problems

The serviceability of the timing drive is critical for any engine because if the chain wears out or the belt breaks, the engine is guaranteed to be overhauled.

In Russia, most of the fleet consists of used cars, which increasingly require spare parts for maintenance and repair. But the problems started with their delivery, because the share of imported spare parts is now more than half.
Interestingly, about 60% of them are in China. The Celestial Empire already has more than 8,000 factories for the production of auto parts, while the product range is very wide. But the share of European manufacturers accounts for about 40%. Here the main suppliers are Bosch, SWAG and VAG (Volkswagen Group). The share of American, Canadian and Japanese parts is small.
Now it turns out that it is possible to get Chinese spare parts, but with European ones there are problems. And then we are talking about particularly important details: such as distribution sets, ABS systems, electronics, water pumps.
Owners of premium brands such as Audi, BMW, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have already struggled. The motors of these machines are complex in design, and it is not always possible to install an Asian analogue there. In addition, it sometimes resembles “Russian Roulette”. The Internet is full of stories when, when a non-genuine belt is applied to the gear of the Audi A3 engine, it is immediately apparent that the “teeth” of the consumable has an irregular shape, which makes it the gear cavity, and the belt plays itself. When you try to start the engine, such a part can come loose, which will lead to unpredictable consequences.
Also owners of Mazda 6. The trouble is that you can be seriously misled by ordering a Chinese timing kit. The masters will put the chain, but the so-called “shoe” may not suit the shape of the casting and its thickness. Whoever bought such a kit will not envy you. After all, the engine is already disassembled and ready to be repaired and the spare parts suitable for the catalog turn out to be different in reality.
There is hope, however, that deliveries from Europe will still be arranged via Turkey and Georgia. But this, as you might guess, will lead to higher prices, as logistics costs will increase.
