The Lenovo ThinkVision 27 3D display can simulate 3D effects without the need to wear glasses. For sale from early 2024 for 2,999 euros.

Lenovo announced a number of new hardware products at IFA. The ThinkVision 27 3D literally and figuratively stood out the most. At first glance, this screen looks like your average 27-inch 4K monitor with a 60Hz refresh rate. Connections are available for HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-C, so you won’t lack for anything in this area.

An extra dimension

But this screen packs a punch. The screen can be switched between 2D and 3D using the 3D Explorer software integrated by the manufacturer. The software “slices” the screen in half and follows your eyes to reassemble the two halves of the screen into a 3D projection that doesn’t require special glasses. According to PCWorld, the marketing imagery is slightly exaggerated as the projections float cleanly within the delineated area of the screen.

In order to create the 3D effect, your PC must meet the following hardware requirements in addition to compatible software:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 (seventh generation or newer)
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050
  • At least 16GB of RAM

If you can tick everything off this list, the Lenovo ThinkVision 27 3D will be available from February 2024 for a whopping €2,999 (incl. VAT).
