A leak from a fairly reliable insider ensures this Red Dead Redemption 3 is in developmentAlthough, as you might imagine, this title would be in its very early stages right now, and it’s clearly still many years away from its official announcement.
That shouldn’t surprise us after all, Red Dead Redemption 2 it was a huge success on both consoles and PC, and Rockstar has used the franchise’s momentum to relaunch Red Dead Redemption on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. With these two facts in mind, it’s easy to see why it’s entirely believable that Red Dead Redemption 3 is already in development.
We don’t have concrete information beyond what’s been said at this point, but considering that this is a key triple-A title for Rockstar and that the studio is known for taking its development very slowly. Red Dead Redemption hit the market in 2010 and Red Dead Redemption 2 hit consoles in 2018, so it’s very likely that Red Dead Redemption 3 will arrive in the last stretch of the console generation’s lifecycle, ie. in 2027 to 2028 and in the best cases.

Before that, GTA 6 will launch, which is still slated for late 2024 or early 2025, although we still don’t have an official confirmed date, so we’ll have to wait. Coming back to Red Dead Redemption 3, we can take some things for granted even though we don’t have official information yet, because are derived by simple logic given the reality of the current market and its possible launch date:
- It could become a cross-generational title designed to work on both the PS6 and the Xbox Series X successor.
- It will use a new graphics engine, or an improved and updated version of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) that Red Dead Redemption 2 uses.
- It will mean a significant advance on a technical level, both for graphic quality and for the breadth of scenarios.
- It will most likely use major resizing and image reconstruction technologies to improve performance, as the current installment did back then.
The source that reflected this announcement also commented on the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 3 coming to the market in 2030, which we also cannot completely rule out, but the truth is that I found out. too long a periodbecause that’s the equivalent of saying that there won’t be a new installment of the franchise on current-gen consoles, or that they might have an even longer lifespan than previous generations.
