Recently Microsoft changed some things in their user agreement. Nothing new, companies do this every now and then. The latest updates take effect on September 30th. However, technology organization Mozilla is now concerned about the ambiguity in the new text about what Microsoft does with your data and ours. Mozilla puts a lot of emphasis on whether they are used to train AI.

Announcing changes to the “Your Content” and “Your Privacy” sections, as well as the addition of an “AI Services” section in the Code of Conduct section, which are of concern to Mozilla. According to the organization, it’s very unclear whether Microsoft is allowed to use certain data it collects from its many services to train AI (like Bing Chat).

Mozilla has been very vocal on this issue since Friday social media x. The organization has now also published a petition urging everyone to ask Microsoft if the company is using our data for AI training.

What started on Friday turned into days after also thorough repeated. Mozilla claims that even a whole team of specialists cannot clarify what exactly Microsoft does with user data.

Like the other (larger) tech companies, Microsoft is constantly expanding its AI activities. Two weeks ago we reported that the company is deepening the integration of the AI ​​assistant Copilot into Power Apps. Previously, there was already an announcement that Microsoft Paint will also be restored with a layer of artificial intelligence.

Additionally, Microsoft may want to offer the Databricks AI platform through Azure. Another collaboration with a much louder sounding name is with Meta. Microsoft will work with this other tech giant to develop more open-source AI, such as Meta’s Llama 2 LLM model.
