It’s not the first time we’ve heard about a possible price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but this time the information comes from a much more reliable source than the previous ones and also points to more price increase than we saw in previous information that pointed to 50 to 100 dollars-euros.

According to new information from DigiTimes, which has important contacts in the Taiwanese supply chain, the price of the iPhone 15 Pro and its bigger brother (size) Pro Max will go up. up to 200 dollars-euros. This price hike is rumored to be imminent, and the possibility remains that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will receive a much smaller price increase. The said source also suggests that Apple has placed fewer orders, meaning that it expects sales to decline as a result of this price increase.

It is quite understandable, a price increase of this caliber could have a very negative impact on the demand for a new apple smartphone and would put it in a difficult position compared to its direct rivals, at least in theory. I say theoretically because we have already experienced this situation and we also said that the price increase will affect the sales, but in the end we said that the sales they finished very well.

It has an explanation and it is true Apple has a brand image and a legion of fans who have no problem paying more money for access to its products, which ultimately leaves Apple with more leeway to play with the price of its devices. In this case, however, the situation could change, as the smartphone market has yet to recover and as the global economic situation has not been able to recover from the pothole it faced after entering the post-covid era.

To justify this significant price increase, Apple will offer a number of notable changes to its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, among which we can highlight the use of grade 5 titanium lighter and more durable material than steel for chassis production. They will also have improvements at the hardware level, the most important of which is the jump to a Apple A17 SoC and the introduction of a new periscope-type camera.

It was also rumored increasing the amount of RAM and storage capacity of the base model which it would go from 128GB to 256GB, but this is unconfirmed and some sources consider it unlikely. We will see what all this is, but the truth is that we will not have to wait much longer, because the presentation of these new smartphones will take place on September 12.
