Chinese private company Galactic Energy has successfully launched the CERES-1 space launch vehicle with four commercial satellites.
As reported by Ukrinform, Xinhua reported this.
CERES-1 was launched from a naval launch pad in the East China Sea near Haiyang city in eastern China’s Shandong province at 5:34 PM local time (12:34 PM Kyiv) on Tuesday, September 5th.
The rocket reportedly successfully launched the satellites into the planned orbit.
This mission was the ninth flight of the CERES-1 series rockets.
CERES-1 is a special disposable solid propellant launch vehicle created by the Chinese company Galactic Energy. It was named after the first asteroid (or minor planet) discovered in 1801, named after the ancient Roman fertility goddess Ceres.
In 2014, Chinese authorities allowed commercial companies to engage in space activities. Previously, this sector was closed to private capital. As a result, a number of companies were created that began to develop rockets and spacecraft (the creation of launch vehicles, engines and other equipment for them). Among them is Galactic Energy, which was established in Beijing in February 2018.
As reported by Ukrinform, China launched three Yaogan-39 Earth remote sensing satellites into Earth orbit on Thursday, August 31, using the Changzheng-2D (Long March-2D) launch vehicle.
