Game star field It was the first place where SSD was listed in all system requirements. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart developers also specify an SSD, but such a drive is listed as desirable among the minimum requirements. Tests show that on a fast modern HDD the game usually runs quite normally, only downloads take much longer. Starfield finally “disguises” classic hard drives as a gaming solution.
Testing showed that when the game was installed on the HDD, it stopped working no matter how normal it was. The game constantly hangs, sometimes the sound design disappears, animations do not work, etc. Downloads are expected to take longer. Longer.
For example, in the case of a modern SSD it takes about 15 seconds to load a game from a save, and in an HDD you will have to wait a minute and a half! Even more impressive is the difference in loading time to Constellation HQ: 30 seconds versus three seconds; this is a difference of order of magnitude.
Journalist Rockpapershotgun, who conducted the relevant tests, concluded that Starfield is the end of HDD in gaming. Of course, this is the first game of this kind so far, but almost all processes begin with some kind of first step.
