China has successfully launched a modified Changzheng-6 (Long March-6) launch vehicle with a new Earth remote sensing satellite.
This has been reported Xinhua reported Ukrinform.
The launch vehicle carrying the satellite took off from the Taiyuan Cosmodrome in Shanxi Province at 12:30 local time (7:30 Kiev time). The spacecraft successfully entered the planned Earth orbit.
The Yaogan-40 satellite will be used to detect the electromagnetic environment and conduct technical tests and scientific experiments. Details of the mission and device features were not disclosed.
Western analysts believe that the Yaogan family of spacecraft, which can obtain detailed images of the Earth’s surface through clouds and even at night, has a dual purpose and is used for both civilian and military purposes. They carry out optical, radar and electronic reconnaissance activities, especially in line with the interests of the Chinese army.
This mission was the 487th flight of the Long March series launch vehicles.
As reported China’s Changzheng-4C launch vehicle (Long March-4C) Ukrinform launched a new Earth remote sensing satellite into space on August 31.
