The Flemish Government, local authorities and organizations affiliated with the Flemish Government can purchase fixed telephony and data communications services as well as cloud telephony from Telenet.

Telenet has won an important framework contract with the Flemish government to provide fixed-line connectivity. The contract has a total value of a maximum of almost 43 million euros with a term of up to seven years. Telenet also won the contract for cloud telephony.

The new contracts came into force at the end of August. These offer both customers of the current framework agreement (around 250 organizations at more than 1,000 locations) and new customers the opportunity to purchase landline telephony and data services.

Earlier this year, Telenet also won the Belnet framework contract for WAN connectivity between all Belnet-connected government services. In May 2023, Telenet Business also began activating the new Schoolnet framework agreement, which will enable all schools in Flanders to switch to fiber.

Second framework agreement

The second framework agreement also goes to Telenet Business. This includes the so-called cloud PBX or virtual telephone exchange. Although Telenet continues to support older systems such as ISDN lines or fax and modem traffic, the focus is primarily on future-oriented virtual telephone exchanges with cloud solutions. The big advantage here is that Telenet can manage them remotely to ensure the best service.

“By removing exchanges from these companies and moving them to the cloud, Telenet manages the entire exchange remotely. This means they can always communicate smoothly internally and externally,” says Geert Degezelle, Chief Commercial Officer B2B
