I don’t know, maybe 15 years ago many people had two or more personal user accounts on Facebook. However, I specify that when I say personal, I mean that they were connected exclusively to his personal identity. In my case, for example, I had one for my personal contacts, in which I shared my daily tasks and woes, and another, also with my personal identity, but dedicated exclusively to professional contacts. And yes, all of us who behaved like this were breaking Facebook’s rules.

I actually knew quite a few people who did the same practice and none of those people (myself included) ever lost their second account, and I’m talking about the times when Facebook took measures for identity theft, blocking accounts, using identity verification systems etc. That is, although the rule existed, there was every indication that they were the first not to attach much importance to it.

Over the last decade, and especially after security issues and scandals like Cambridge Analytica began to emerge, The former social media queen’s numbers began to drop rapidly, as well as an assessment of the service and its use. Something that pushed younger people’s perception of Facebook as an “older people” social network out of the limelight.

Meta has been trying to reverse this situation of constant decline for some time now, and the latest measure to achieve this is, as we can read on its official blog, Facebook now allows you to have multiple personal profiles. More specifically, now the social network allows you to have a main profile and up to four additional profiles, each of which has its own contacts, groups, source, etc. Of course, you read correctly, all these additional profiles will necessarily be linked to the main one, although the rest of the users of the service mentioned they won’t “see” the connection.

Not all Facebook features are currently available for additional profiles. In the blog post, we can read that these include dating, marketplace, pro mode and payments, and there will also be some initial limitations when it comes to instant messaging features. However, and while the roadmap in this regard has not been revealed, Meta states that these restrictions are specific to the launch of the feature, so we can understand that they will be addressed at a later date.

for some time now Meta is trying to make Facebook an attractive service again, both to attract a younger audience and to restore lost users.
