Valve released Counter-Strike 2 today. The game, which was officially announced in March and has been talked about for a long time, replaced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as a free update. Source 2 received its engine from Valve, with sharper textures, more believable lighting, and other improvements.
Valve said it divided the maps into three categories. Cornerstone maps are classic “solid foundation” scenes that have been left virtually untouched so players can appreciate the key gameplay changes from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to Counter-Strike 2. What’s next? (Upgrade) cards focus on Source 2 lighting for more realistic-looking prints and materials. Finally, Overhaul maps have been completely redesigned from the ground up to showcase the full capabilities of Source 2.
Smoke bombs should also look more realistic. Valve says it has revised the way they work, making them more dynamic: “Not only do all players now see the same smoke regardless of their location, but the smoke can also interact with the environment in interesting ways. It responds to lighting and grows naturally, filling the space. “The shape of the smoke cloud can be changed by bullets and grenades.”
Counter-Strike 2 is a free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Bonuses collected in CS:GO will be automatically transferred to CS2. You can download Counter-Strike 2 for free from Steam right now. The game is available on SteamOS as well as Windows and Linux PCs.
