The US government signed a secret agreement with Ecuador on sending land and naval military forces to the country the purpose of which will be to combat organizations involved in drug trafficking.
Several US congressmen were briefed during a closed meeting last Wednesday, at which Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso was also present.As reported by Representative Dan Crenshaw Washington Examiner.
“They announced and signed an agreement with the United States”explained Crenshaw, who heads the Congressional Intervention Force to combat Mexican drug cartels. Senior officials from the U.S. Coast Guard and Department of Defense attended the signing.

Since Wednesday, the State Department has issued more than thirty press releases, but noneor has provided any advertising to the agreement signed with Ecuador, but a department spokesman confirmed on Friday Washington Examiner that a status of forces agreement and a maritime forces agreement had been signed.
The maritime agreement allows the presence of US warships in the waters off the coast of Ecuador, a route commonly used by Colombian drug cartels to transport cocaine. This “enhances surveillance and improves the ability to prevent and combat illegal transnational maritime activities,” a State Department spokesman said.
