The Marichka underwater drone developed by Ukrainian developers can hit port infrastructure facilities, underwater and surface targets while remaining vulnerable to enemy anti-drone vehicles. The Marichka drone is capable of destroying both surface and underwater facilities of the enemy in occupied Crimea. In particular, we are talking about technical characteristics that allow the Ukrainian drone to “operate” in places such as Kozatskaya and Strilkova bays in Sevastopol, as well as in the waters of the Novorossiysk naval base.

“If we are talking about objects of the aggressor country Russia, in fact there are no restrictions for Marichko in the Black Sea at the moment,” one of the developers said.

Moreover, the potential target of the new Ukrainian drone could be the Crimean Bridge, one of the most protected targets by the Russians in the Black Sea region. The barricades and water barriers protecting this structure will become useless when the Ukrainian army decides to attack this target with the help of the Marichka unmanned aerial vehicle.

The expert reported that such an underwater unmanned aerial vehicle is practically invincible against the enemy, unlike surface unmanned aerial vehicles. Detecting, correcting and attempting to intercept “Marichka” is much more difficult than a standard surface drone.

According to available data, the Marichka underwater drone has a tubular shape with four fins located around the tail. There is a pair of horizontal stabilizers at the front. The drone is approximately 6 meters long and just over 1 meter in diameter.

Drone targeting method – to carry out a predetermined attack on autopilot, you need to specify the coordinates of the target and the ability to swim to it. It will be harder to resist than its surface counterparts. Source
