When we talk about full integration with features like streaming video calls to other devices, Apple’s Continuity feature comes to mind. However, Samsung’s OneUI already supports the ability to transfer voice calls between different Galaxy devices, but it has some limitations. There is no such function in vanilla Android, the Korean giant developed it under its own OneUI shell. Google is already working on such a feature that will allow users to continue video or voice calls on other Android devices.
Seamless video calls from Google Inbox
It’s been a long time since Google worked on a feature in the Connect Your Devices section of Device Groups. A month ago, it was reported that Google was working on the ability to switch searches using an SDK for different devices. A recent report confirms that the ability to switch or forward video calls, as well as voice calls, will soon be coming to Android.
Following @AssembleDebug’s report, the Connect Your Devices feature is getting new improvements. They managed to get a video of the installation process and shared a few screenshots. This feature allows users to invite their devices to a “Device Group” and then use features like call forwarding and hotspot sharing. A new plugin has now been added to seamlessly transfer video calls between your devices.
There are now two features added to Connect Your Device: video calling and tethering. So they will soon be available for Android as well.
These features are developed using Google SDK for various devices. The search giant uses the SDK to offer cross-device services on Chromebooks and Android apps. It will be interesting to see how and when this feature will be rolled out.
