It’s about more settings for accessing your stories. This was stated by the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, during a post on his page. According to him, the social network has already begun testing the ability to share stories with various customizable audience lists.
Details of an upcoming feature
The app already has a “Close Friends” feature that allows you to add specific people to the list and share stories only with them. This gives you some privacy on the social network, especially if you have a public profile.
The problem is that such a list is just a list, and different information can be designed for different groups of people. Something that you can entrust to a very small group of users and is only suitable for relatives or colleagues. Therefore, you need to constantly edit the list of “Close friends” or refuse to publish this or that content on Instagram.
With the new features, each user will be able to create multiple access lists and share your stories with different people without having to constantly change things.
This allows you to share stories with smaller groups and gives you more control over who can see your stories. As someone who uses the Close Friends feature a lot, I’m excited to be able to create additional lists for the people in my life.
– says Mosseri.

It is unknown when this update will be available to all users. However, it is quite sad that the company is making improvements not to reassure users but just to keep up with the competition.
