Japan plans to provide telehealth services and smart farming technology to Ukraine to help revive its economy and rebuild areas devastated by the Russian occupation.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Kyodo, citing government sources.
It is stated that such measures will become “the mainstay of cooperation” between Japanese and Ukrainian companies and will be announced in Japan at the beginning of next year.
“The provision of digital medical services will allow Japanese doctors to provide medical assistance to victims in Ukraine by sending ultrasound images to Japan,” the report said.
Japan also hopes to help Ukraine increase wheat and sunflower yields with farming methods that use sensors and artificial intelligence technologies. They will provide the optimum amount of water or fertilizer in the fields.
Japan is also considering providing water purification and cyber technologies, among other measures to support Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa visited Ukraine on September 9.
During his meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Yoshimasa noted that Japan will continue to support Ukraine, strengthen anti-Russian sanctions and help Ukraine survive the winter. Additionally, Japan will deliver 24 cranes to Ukraine for humanitarian demining efforts.
Japanese businessmen, on the other hand, presented concrete cooperation projects, especially in the fields of communication, infrastructure and medicine.
