It’s not the first time Google has explored ideas that haven’t fully crystallized yet. give your search engine cover more functionality or appeal than they have, which is reduced to a search, so we won’t say they’re working on something we may never see… But the truth is, they do, they’ve been caught and confirmed, so at least we’ll talk.

In short, Google India is testing Discover integration on the front page of its search engine, filling that empty space below the search bar with news and even some stock or weather tabs. Nothing too flashy, but noticeable enough that those who stumble upon it won’t miss it. And it wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened.

But what is clear is that Google’s homepage (read google.com, google.es, etc.) has lost much of its charm, and just because of the way web browsers work today, fewer and fewer people will use it as a starting point for your travels around website. Now Google itself had an influence on it.

While it’s true that Chrome is the most accurate in this sense, the browser’s homepage or new tab page has evolved and added various functional details. It would be so weird if they put Discover in there in a more modest way, in the style of what Microsoft Edge or Brave does? That would be in the browser, but Google’s homepage is pretty much the same in practice.

Be that as it may, whatever happens, here’s a curious fact: next November 1st, in just a few weeks and a few days, will be the tenth anniversary of the closure of iGoogle, a homepage model that might seem outdated, but isn’t quite . As examples, there are several, each with its own style: Edge, iOS…
