Thousands of people demonstrated in central London to express their support for the Palestinians and call for an end to Israel’s ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip.
Protesters carrying Palestinian flags and traditional keffiyehs gathered near Oxford Circus and then headed to Downing Street, the official residence of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
They also gathered outside the BBC building.
Their slogans were addressed to governments Great Britain and the USA for supporting Israel.
London’s Metropolitan Police (Met) deployed more than a thousand officers to ensure the demonstration went off without incident.
The protest came as Palestinians in the Gaza Strip began a mass exodus from the northern strip after Israel ordered them to evacuate ahead of a ground attack aimed at destroying Hamas positions.
The United Nations and human rights organizations have expressed concern about Relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, where the death toll continues to rise.
The British government supports Israel and has called on police to use the “full force of the law” against showing support for Hamas or attempts to intimidate the UK Jewish community. (Reuters and EFE)
