What we’re going to tell you so you don’t suffer… With rampant inflation around the world and a complicated macro and micro economic outlook, the tech industry has raised the prices of almost any type of product. There are some exceptions, such as Flash and DRAM based solutions, but the general rule has been and – we fear – will continue to rise in price in the short term. Subscription services have not been immune to the economic situation and practically everyone and in all areas rose. Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music or more recently PlayStation Plus. Now we get another one, also with games as protagonists.

NVIDIA GeForce Now is cloud gaming service from the world leader in specialized graphics. It provides unlimited access to a library of games hosted on the company’s servers and streamed from there. It supports all major systems (Windows, macOS or Chrome OS, as well as mobile phones such as iOS and Android) and its main advantage is that it allows you to achieve “powerful gaming rig” without the need for high-end hardware, because the hard work is done by NVIDIA on its servers.

Currently, the catalog has about 1,500 games, although you previously had to purchase them on some of the supported platforms. Although not all are there, NVIDIA has agreed with Microsoft to gradually add its games and titles included in Microsoft PC Game Pass, which will undoubtedly mean a boost in supported games. But rising prices won’t help.

NVIDIA has announced increases in several regions such as Canada and Europe. On the old continent, the basic subscription will go from 9.99 to 10.99 euros per month, while the Ultimate package will go from 19.99 to 21.99 euros. It may not seem like it, but we are talking about it 10% increase. And you still have to buy the games yourself. And they are not cheap at all.

The price increase will be implemented 1st of November. NVIDIA will honor the previous price for current subscribers and new subscribers who sign up for any of its plans before this date. It will also honor GeForce Now gift cards purchased before that date.

When we consider that salaries are not enough and that the basic products of food, transportation or housing are prioritized, and that there is already saturation of streaming services, it is not surprising that they are losing subscribers. Or that sales of personal computers or mobile phones are falling sharply.
