If you like book-style folding mobile phones, you’re in luck today.. And in addition to the just announced OPPO Find N3, today we also officially learned about the OnePlus Open. It was the company’s first foldable device and we knew many of its features and design, but now we have all the details. You can even read his analysis on Xataka.
To help you better contextualize this model, here is a Comparison between OnePlus Open and its main rivals. We will present its general features and examine its different parts item by item.
OnePlus Open and its competitors in this comparison
First of all, as we always do, we start with a table where you can see at a glance the basic and most important features of the mobile phones we will encounter.
And the important thing is, unlike when we compare with Flip type folding, Folds are not very common in Spain/Europe. I say this because there are mobile phones in the table that are not sold in our region, but are important enough to be included in the comparison within the segment.
With that said, let’s move on to the list of contestants:
OnePlus Open – Sold in Spain
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 – Sold in Spain
Honor Magic V2 – Not yet sold in Spain, although planned
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 – not sold in Spain
OPPO Find N3 – not sold in Spain
And here is the features table. If you cannot see any data correctly, we invite you to scroll sideways:

We left the Pixel Fold out of the list because, although it is clearly one of the important foldables of 2023, it has a completely different format, being much more compact than those on the table. It would be another story if it was sold in Spain, but that is not the case.
Screens and design
The key to a folding mobile phone is the screen. It is arguably the star of the set because it is what justifies the existence of this type of format. There are two very different aspects here; on external screens (large or small, all with a similar format) rather than internal screens.
Turn on the OnePlus Internal display. Here they are almost all the same in terms of aspect ratio.
It’s the external displays that make the difference. This is OnePlus Open.
Inside external screens, We have extended formats like Mix Fold 3 with 21:9and others that are a bit more inclusive and similar to traditional mobile phones, but here What makes the difference is Galaxy Z Fold5 with its 23.1:9 screen..
It’s very, very long, which can make it difficult to use properly with one hand, as well as limiting the experience with certain content. This is neither better nor worse, just different.. The resolution of all panels is correct, the pixel density is very good, and all panels (external and internal) have a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Z Fold5 has a very, very tall external display
Now it’s just a model Honor, Xiaomi and OPPO have LTPO panels (only Mix Fold 3 LTPO on internal display), so the experience is superior and the battery savings should be noticeable too.
And one thing the Galaxy Z Fold5 wins by a landslide is resistance Thanks to IPX8 certification. It is not dust resistant but is water resistant.
Processor, battery and system
There’s little to say about the processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 reigns over all these foldable phones, with a customized version for the Galaxy Z Fold5 thanks to the slightly more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy in one of the cores of its processor. .
They are mobile phones that are busy with the latest hardware., very good amount of RAM for multitasking and batteries…similar. OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi all three have 4,800mAh capacities with 67W wired charging. Honor has a 5,000 mAh capacity with 66W charging, while Samsung has the lowest capacity (4,400 mAh) with the least charging power (25W). Of course, both Samsung and Xiaomi have wireless charging feature.
Galaxy Z Fold5
The key is in the system and there are two currents here. Almost all brands are expanding the display to get a tablet-like experience with the built-in display. We have plenty of space for multitasking and icons, but Samsung has another approach.
It appears to have a dual OS (which isn’t the case, but oh well) and while it displays something more conventional on the external display, it offers a dock full of icons on the internal display (as if it were a PC) and multitasking is dead simple.
But, Everyone is doing their best in this regard and although Samsung has some advantages due to its experience, this is not a decision that will determine the purchase of this or that model. In fact, it is more important to consider the update policy, for example.
cameras
Gone are the foldable phones of the first generations with cameras that were not at the terminal price level. Right now, These models have a fairly typical configuration Wide angle, telephoto and main camera attract attention.
OnePlus carries the quality seal of Hasseblad processing and an impressive camera set
Xiaomi has the most versatile model Thanks to two telephotos, however, OnePlus has a wide-angle and high-resolution telephoto, as well as a completely different sensor from the others.
About 48 megapixel Sony LYTIA-T808 with stacked design. This means they can contain the same resolution at smaller sizes, something that also greatly benefits focusing speed. We have samples of these devices in our analysis and testing, but OnePlus has revealed a surprising camera configuration.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has the most versatile section thanks to its dual telephoto feature
As for the front cameras, they all have a camera on both the external screen and the internal screen. Samsung was the one who took the most risks regarding the under-screen camera. As we saw in our tests, it is not the one that gives the best results, but it is the only device that offers a hole-free internal screen.
Price and availability
But at the end of the day, availability is what will determine whether we choose one or the other. Prices are similar for all these models, but getting access to them is another story.
OnePlus Open will come to Spain on October 26 for a price of 1,899 euros. Galaxy Z Fold5 is now available for sale at a launch price of 1,909 euros, with a price that varies depending on the store. And Magic V2 is expected to arrive soon.
There is no news regarding the launch of OPPO Find N3 and Xiaomi Mix 3 Fold in Spain. However, if you are thinking of getting into importing and want to see all the models in perspective, I hope this comparison was useful to you.
