Apple finally looks ready to join the productive AI race next year. Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu (Jeff Pu) claims that Apple may implement generative AI in iOS 18, which will be released towards the end of next year.
The company will build several hundred servers for AI work by the end of this year, and many more of the same systems next year. Presumably the Cupertino giant will offer a combination of cloud AI and peripheral AI, which requires a lot of data processing on the device. Additionally, Apple will spend time implementing generative AI as it evaluates how personal data will be used and processed in a manner consistent with its commitment to customer privacy.
It’s still unclear what AI will look like on iOS. It is quite possible that this is a new version of Siri, because Apple users have long been accustomed to this voice assistant. It’s also not clear yet whether AI will appear first only on iOS or immediately on macOS. Jeff Pu had previously confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra will have titanium alloy bodies, USB-C and 8 GB RAM.
