“The group of prosecutors against public corruption has initiated a preliminary investigation against Vigberto Nicanor Boluarte Zegarra and Nixon Hoyos Gallardo, mayor of Nanchoc (in the northern department of Cajamarca), for alleged crimes of aggravated conspiracy and influence peddlingto the detriment of the state,” the prosecutor’s office said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

He added that this investigation begins after it became aware of a complaint involving persons under investigation “in estimated preference for a budget item of 20 million soles (over 93 million pesos) for public works” in the aforementioned Nanchok region in the north of the country.

The Ministry of State clarified that this also includes other citizens: Noriel, Jorge and Antonio Chingay Salazar, Victor Hugo Torres Merino, Hector Ugarte Nina and Michael Carlos Aranda Ladera.
