This week, Samsung AI Forum 2023 was held, a company event focused on innovations in artificial intelligence and its application at both daily and business levels. And on the second day of this event Samsung introduced its productive artificial intelligence.

This model is developed by Samsung Research.The purpose of this device, called Samsung Gauss, is to counteract other large current systems. Like ChatGPT from OpenAI and Google Bard. Now, Samsung’s new AI is expected to ship with the Galaxy S24, and there are already rumors of possible payment plans for its use.

A few weeks ago, Samsung introduced its new processor Exynos 2400. It was a very strange presentation because we have MediaTek 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with all the data and features of the SoC. ​We don’t know more than some percentages for the Galaxy S24 that will bring the new Exynos to life.

Samsung focused on saying its NPU (the processor responsible for AI calculations) is 15 times faster It promised excellent GPU performance over the previous generation, but nothing more. It is estimated that Google’s Tensor G3, produced by Samsung, also has these advantages when performing artificial intelligence calculations, so it is clear that the South Korean company is very interested in this field.

Actually, The aim is to make all these calculations within the device.And this is an advantage over models that require computing in the cloud: they can be faster, we can do them without a network connection, and above all they are more private.

With that said, let’s stick with the Samsung Gauss. The name of this artificial intelligence is a statement of intentCarl Fiederich for honoring Gauss and the “Gaussian distribution”, one of the most used probability distributions and continuous variables in statistics and one of the keys to artificial intelligence.

Samsung Gauss encompasses three models, each specialized in a specific task but with the goal of “improving the lives of consumers around the world.” We detail these below:

• Samsung Gaussian Language – It is a generative language model that will allow us to write emails, summarize documents or translate content. It will also be responsible for easily combining control of different Samsung devices, according to the company.
• Samsung Gauss Code – This is a coding assistant optimized for software development. This will allow developers to write code more easily.
• Samsung Gauss Official – It is a productive image model. According to Samsung, AI-generated images can be created and edited, including style changes and arbitrary resizing. The latter was already available in the last generations of Galaxy and One UI.

Now, this model may run on the device, but as we read on Android Autohority, there are already rumors pointing to a scenario where the model will reach home appliances and laptops as well as smartphones. Other rumors that Samsung Gauss will be paid despite being integrated into the device.

The company hasn’t made any statements about this, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens when the Galaxy S24 is introduced in early 2024.
