Apple stopped development of iOS 18 and macOS 15 to fix bugs

A few months ago, Apple started rolling out the latest generation iOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10 on its respective devices globally. Recently, the company announced the latest iOS 17.1.1 update to fix various issues. While users are updating their devices with the latest software versions, the Cupertino-based tech giant is currently working on the next versions of operating systems for various devices. But that has taken a hit, according to Bloomberg’s trusted writer Mark Gurman.

Apple suspends development of iOS 18 and macOS 15

Apple has discovered many bugs in the current generation software versions of its devices. Therefore, the company suspended the development of iOS 18 and macOS 15 for a week. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software development, shared the decision to halt the development process among teams working on the new operating system. Additionally, sources told Gourmand that the engineering team led by Federighi noticed a lot of bugs that were overlooked during internal testing.

Last month, it was reported that Apple had completed the release of M1 versions for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 18. The team involved was moving to the M2 release when development was halted. M1 and M2 are milestones of the development cycle and do not belong to M1 and M2 chipsets.

The pause in the development of the next iteration of iOS 18 and macOS 15 is expected to last only a few days. This is good news as Apple prioritizes fixing bugs and issues. The report states that the delay will most likely not affect the release schedule of iOS 18 and macOS 18.
