A Irish goodbye is a colloquial expression that pretty much means walking away somewhere in silence without saying goodbye to the others present. If Microsoft had its way, this would soon no longer be possible if OneDrive was closed. According to the Neowin website, the tech giant is rolling out an update that will soon require you to provide a reason for it.
Based on what Neowin has already seen, you can no longer close OneDrive without first answering the question of why you have the courage to do so. Luckily, Microsoft is kind enough to provide a number of options that could make this possible:
If you choose the latter option, the dialog box will simply close, as PCMag notes. Let Microsoft tell you in no uncertain terms what you think of this system, but unfortunately that won’t be an option. The reason for this decision is most likely data collection. This can only help them learn some new words.
It remains to be seen what Microsoft will do with the already foreseeable criticism. The plan to punish regular OneDrive users was recently met with little approval and was quickly withdrawn. Then we thought the offline options for OneDrive were a better idea.
