In China, the Intel Core i3-14100 has already started to be sold at a price that, at the current exchange rate, corresponds to 108 euros (without taxes). If we add VAT (21%) to this figure, the total number would increase to 130.68 euroswhich is an amount more in line with what we usually see in the listed range, and that would leave room for Intel to put an “F” model with the iGPU disabled between 115 and 120 eurosapproximately.
The Intel Core i3-14100 will be the successor to the Intel Core i3-13100 and it will retain both 4-core and 8-thread configuration and architecture of this, I remind you, is Golden Cove. As I told you back then, the Intel Core i3-13100 is a processor that still holds up very well thanks to its high IPC and offers very good performance in games too, although in titles that already scale in 6 cores and 12 threads configurations it starts to show signs of exhaustion.
We can expect the same from the Intel Core i3-14100, the model that will be part of the “non-K” Raptor Lake Refresh series. The only difference this chip will have over the Intel Core i3-13100 will be on working frequencies that will be higher.
I can confirm that this processor will run at a base speed of 3.5GHz, which is a 100MHz increase over the previous model, but unfortunately we don’t have details on turbo mode yet. However, I think this mode is most likely to exist 4.7 GHz or 4.8 GHz, at the best case.
The difference in performance between the two will be small, so the upgrade won’t be useful if we already have an Intel Core i3-12100 or an Intel Core i3-13100. However, it would be an interesting update for those with Intel Core i3 Gen10, for example, such as the Intel Core i3-10100 (Comet Lake). In this case, the difference in performance would be noticeable and we could also make the jump to DDR5.
As you can see in the image accompanying this article, Some Intel Core i3-14100 units have already been sold in China, so we may start seeing performance benchmark leaks of said CPU soon. If Intel adjusts the price, it can become a very interesting alternative to other chips with which it directly competes in terms of range, such as the Ryzen 5 5500, which now costs just over 100 euros, and although it has a lower CPI, it has the advantage of having 6 cores and 12 threads.
