Within the scope of the Brave1 project, Ukrainian experts developed an attack drone resistant to electronic warfare.
Deputy Prime Minister for the Development of Innovations, Education, Science and Technologies – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reported.
“Backfire is an attack drone produced by Ukrainian developers, part of the Brave1 defense cluster. The UAV flies up to 35 kilometers behind enemy lines and helps hit Russian artillery, logistics nodes, enemy warehouses and command posts,” the government official said.
According to him, the drone is quite resistant to enemy EW thanks to its GPS antenna, which is almost impossible to jam. Due to the full autonomy of the drone, the enemy cannot calculate its coordinates and ground command, which makes it possible to protect the operators.
Fedorov noted that Backfire is currently being tested at the front and is showing good results there. Over the past two months, the military has conducted at least 50 successful missions. The developers are collaborating with the “Bad Birds” unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is helping develop the drone.
“Ptashka” has already passed the commission of the Ministry of Defense and is waiting for an order for acceptance into operation. This means that the state can officially purchase these drones. “The creative team is currently preparing for the mass production of the UAV,” he said.
As reported, within the framework of the Brave1 project, Ukrainian developers have created a mobile ETER direction finder complex.
