The Philips 49B2U5900CH is a new monitor from the Dutch group that promises the best efficiency in offices and when working at home, with top specifications and a focus on collaboration to facilitate productivity during the working day.

Although most computer monitors on the market are aimed at playing games, The range of screens is wide and covers all needs, from basic “off-road” ones suitable for any task to professional series for video or photo editing that require special functions. In between, there are others designed to facilitate daily work, such as the one we present to you today.

Philips 49B2U5900CH, big and productive

The new thing from Philips is big, very big, with a curved VA panel backlit by W-LEDs that reaches a diagonal 48 inches in an “ultra-wide” format with a 32:9 aspect ratio specifically designed to save us the need to use multi-monitor systems. And with its native resolution of 5120×1440 pixels, this monitor equivalent to having two 25″ Quad HD monitors in 16:9 format side by side.

Of the rest technical characteristics highlight 450 nits of maximum brightness, its 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 178-degree viewing angles. It covers 97% of the NTSC color gamut and 119% of the sRGB. Its refresh rate is 75 Hz and response time is 4 ms. Both parameters are not as important as in games, although it supports DisplayHDR 400 and the general image synchronization standard, Adaptive Sync.

Its strength comes from connectivity and this approach to collaboration with a 5-megapixel web camera for video conferencing and support for Windows Hello for security and authentication tasks. It also features Smart KVM features that improve the traditional built-in KVM switch for switching between sources, as users only need to press the “ctrl” key three times on the keyboard to switch between computers.

Ports well served, has Display Port 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.1. It also has a modern USB Type-C with DP Alt mode and up to 100 watts of power, an up and down USB port hub, microphone and headphone audio output and up to 1 GbE Ethernet LAN port with Wake on LAN.

It has a base that allows for height adjustment, VESA support and details such as a handy hook for hanging headphones. The Philips 49B2U5900CH will be available from this month for a price of 1199 euros. An investment in the most important peripheral of any PC.
