Amazon ElastiCache gets serverless option

AWS is introducing a serverless option for ElastiCache. This must ensure that applications and databases remain easily accessible as workloads change without adding much complexity.

At Re:Invent, AWS is introducing ElastiCache Serverless. This solution does what the name suggests: you get a cache that contains frequently used data from databases and applications and that scales with demand. ElastiCache is Redis and Memcached compatible and ensures response times drop to microseconds. ElastiCache is available in different AWS zones, so users can enjoy the performance of the cache from anywhere.

No configuration

According to AWS, it can also make it easier to manage the infrastructure behind the cache. Therefore, a serverless version of the solution appears. With Amazon ElastiCache Serverless, customers can create a cache in less than a minute and without provisioning or configuring infrastructure. Thanks to the serverless approach, which allows AWS to automatically scale hardware as needed, administrators no longer need to fine-tune their caches.

This caching solution is also available in all AWS zones. The solution is now generally available.
