SpaceX launched 23 more Starlink satellites

SpaceX added 23 more satellites to its Starlink internet constellation on Saturday night (December 2). A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying communications satellites lifted off from the Florida Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral at 11 p.m. ET (04:00 GMT, Dec. 3).

The first stage of the Falcon 9 returned to Earth for a vertical landing approximately 8.5 minutes after launch. He touched down on the unmanned aerial vehicle “A Shortfall of Gravitas”, which was sitting in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida. According to SpaceX’s mission statement, this was the sixth launch and landing of this rocket.

Meanwhile, 23 Starlink satellites are scheduled to be deployed into low Earth orbit (LEO) approximately 65.5 minutes after launch from the Falcon 9’s upper stage. The Starlink network, which provides Internet service to people around the world, currently includes more than 5,000 operational spacecraft, according to astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.

But this number continues to grow and will likely continue to grow for the foreseeable future. SpaceX currently has approval to deploy 12,000 Starlink vehicles to LEO and has applied for approval for an additional 30,000.
