Meta Platforms and IBM have formed a coalition of more than 50 AI companies and research institutions (AI Alliance) that supports an open-source AI model.

As reported by Ukrinform, Wall StreetJournal.

The AI Alliance, whose members include Intel, Oracle and the University of Tokyo, said it was pooling its resources to support “open innovation and open science” in artificial intelligence.

Members of this alliance largely support open source AI. Building on a history of collaboration between major tech companies, academics, and a movement of independent programmers, this approach makes technology freely available.

IBM said that it has been working with Meta Platforms since August to bring together organizations that are not on the world’s agenda, such as OpenAI.

“Frankly, we’ve been a little disappointed with the general discussion and debate around AI over the past year,” said Dario Gil, IBM vice president.

He said companies are looking to have more suppliers of AI products to reduce the risk of working with a single vendor and are exploring other AI systems as viable alternatives.

As reported by Ukrinform, the company OpenAI stated: Will bring Sam Altman back as CEO and will appoint new board members.
