Viewing photos and videos once has been possible in WhatsApp since 2021. Now you can enable this for voice messages too.
You can already forward media files that are public once in WhatsApp. Then the photo or video disappears forever. A year later, a lock feature for taking screenshots was added. Luckily, with the latest feature, you don’t have to worry about that.
From now on you can also mark voice messages so that you can only listen to them once in WhatsApp. The press release cites reading credit card data or planning a surprise as examples. We can also imagine other situations, e.g. B. when we complain about your boss or when you are less sober.
It is important that you mark the voice message as one-time listening. How to get started:
A traditional voice message is displayed as a wavelength. If you activate the one-time function, the text only appears in gray speech and there is one 1 icon with a circle around the front.
The new feature is now rolling out on Android and iOS. If you don’t see the option yet, you may need to update the app. Don’t see an update? It may take a few days for everyone to receive the WhatsApp update.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp continues to add new features at a rapid pace. In the last month alone, you can now forward media files in original quality, lock secret messages with a unique code, and link your phone number to your email address to install WhatsApp on a new phone.
