US company Apple wants to expand iPhone production in India in the next two to three years, making almost a quarter of its annual iPhone production in India.

This was reported by Forbes, as reported by Ukrinform.

The move underscores Apple’s growing ambitions in India, where it aims to reduce its dependence on China.

According to media reports, Apple’s plan is to increase production in India to more than 50 million devices in the next few years, followed by increasing production to tens of millions of iPhones.

Apple’s more ambitious production targets are reportedly being driven by the company’s leading suppliers, including Taiwan’s Foxconn, which wants to open a new factory in India’s Karnataka state in April and plans to eventually produce 20 million smartphones a year. iPhones. .

Bloomberg also reported that Indian conglomerate Tata wants to build the country’s largest iPhone assembly plant in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Tata already has an iPhone manufacturing facility in Karnataka, which it acquired from Wistron earlier this year, and is partnering with Apple to open 100 retail stores for its products across the country.

As Ukrinform reports, Apple sales continue to decline despite high demand for iPhones and services including Apple TV+.
