In my opinion, from the many decisions made recently by Netflix to maintain its market position and its revenue the smartest is diversification. It is evident that the situation has changed a lot for the dean of streaming services, as being the only option in a certain market category is not the same as having to face a large number of services, often operated by those who were exactly your content providers two days ago.
The situation on the streaming market is quite complicated at the moment. We are witnessing mergers, opening services to plans with advertising, closing some markets, reducing the volume of in-house production (although Netflix seems to be an exception in this case), drops in the most economical plans, restrictive measures in the use of subscriptions … well, the list is quite long and as we’ve said on more than one occasion, splitting content between more and more platforms makes each one less attractive.
Netflix had to step on the gas when it came to in-house production when it started losing content from third parties who decided to bring it to their own platforms. However, he was not satisfied with that and in a surprising move (and in my opinion a very successful one, although the execution could have been improved) he decided to turn into a literal reality the term used metaphorically: the Netflix of video games by adding this type of content to what is included in the subscription.
The service still has room to grow in terms of diversification, and it’s probably the best bet… even if it means having to change the criteria (which, on the other hand, they’ve already done on previous occasions). So if we told you at the end of last year that the platform was not interested in sports broadcasts, today the company announced that Netflix Slam pits Rafa Nadal against Carlos Alcarazin an event that will take place on March 3, 2024 at the Michelob Ultra Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
A friendly match will be played at 21:00 Spanish Peninsular Time, and will be broadcast live in a dual broadcast for the platform’s Spanish- and English-speaking markets. Additionally, while this will obviously be the main match, Netflix states that there will be other confrontations that will be confirmed soon. This is what both tennis players said:
