The authors of a new study published in the journal ancient agesconducted an analysis of artifacts (bones of a man, a horse, a wooden onion, pieces of clothing made from sheep and badger skins, iron rods, a saddle and other pieces of horse equipment) from the “cavalry grave” – ​​a cave from the period located in the Khovd province of Mongolia grave
It turned out that the saddle dates back to 267-535 AD.
Created on a wooden frame, the saddle is made of birch and painted with black and red paint. Stirrups hung from the sides – leather rings with iron rings that ensured the rider’s balance while riding.
