Tesla introduced Optimus Gen 2, its new generation humanoid robot that can undertake various tasks while helping people.

Tesla wants to create a humanoid robot that would be versatile enough to replace human labor, but many are skeptical that this can be achieved in the short term. Tesla believes this will be possible by leveraging artificial intelligence advances in its autonomous vehicle program and its expertise in batteries and electric motors. The company claimed that its cars were already wheeled robots. Now all that remains is to give them a humanoid form so that they can replace humans in some tasks. The video demo shows Optimus Gen 2 crouching while balancing.

Previously, Tesla stated that Optimus received extensive training using neural networks and was able to perform new tasks such as sorting objects independently. The new version of the robot is now equipped with all the actuators and sensors developed by Tesla. The company claims that the new version can now run 30% faster. The company also claims that weight is reduced by 10kg and also improves balance.

One of the most difficult parts of a humanoid robot is its arms. They need to be strong enough to withstand a significant load and at the same time delicate enough to handle fragile objects.

The company said it plans to begin using the robot in manufacturing operations soon. Once it proves its usefulness, Tesla plans to start selling the robot.

Previously, Elon Musk stated that the potential demand for such robots could reach 10 to 20 billion units. He believes Optimus will account for “a large portion of Tesla’s long-term value.”
