Russia did not receive personal data of Kyivstar subscribers
On December 13, the company announced that Ukrainians’ subscriber information and personal data were safe. Kyivstar reported that the systems where this data was stored were not affected by the hacker attack.
We have all seen these screenshots on Telegram channels. However, they depict arbitrarily collected technological data that does not belong to the personal data of our subscribers. We declare with full responsibility that your personal data is safe, – emphasized the company.
Who took responsibility for the hacking of the operator?
On December 13, Russian fake hacker group Sontsepiok claimed responsibility for the attack on Kyivstar.
Russian hackers claimed to have destroyed “10,000 computers, more than 4,000 servers and entire cloud storage and backup systems.”
Kievstar emphasized: Rumors that the company’s computers and servers were destroyed are fake.
It is worth noting that Kyivstar plans to start restoring fixed Internet and mobile communications on December 13. It is known that in addition to SBU experts, technology giants Microsoft, Cisco and Ericsson were also involved in this process.
Before starting the recovery, experts need to check the entire system for the presence of hostile software or conditional backdoors.
