A court in San Francisco will hold a hearing within the scope of the investigation initiated by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into Elon Musk’s compliance with US laws in the acquisition of Twitter.
According to Ukrinform’s news with reference to Reuters, the meeting will be held on Thursday.
The statement said, “The Commission is investigating whether Musk, the richest man in the world, complied with the law when submitting the necessary documents regarding his purchase of Twitter shares to the SEC and whether the statements he made about the agreement at that time were misleading.” .
Musk’s interests in the San Francisco court will be represented by his lawyers.
Elon Musk has been in a long-running dispute with the main regulator of US markets since 2018, when he announced on social networks that he had “obtained financing” to buy Tesla shares at a price of $ 420 per piece. The acquisition did not go through at that time, but investors lost several billion due to fluctuating stock prices.
In the case regarding the acquisition of Twitter, which has been ongoing since 2022, the SEC is also investigating Musk’s public statements accompanying the acquisition of the company.
As reported, in September, Elon Musk refused to participate in an interview with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as part of an investigation into his acquisition of Twitter. In October, the Commission filed suit to force the billionaire to give formal testimony in the case.
