It is necessary to ensure that there are cyber security experts in every state institution in Ukraine.
Oleksandr Fedienko, chairman of the cybersecurity subcommittee of the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada, responded to the question of what needs to be strengthened regarding Ukrainian cyber defense, saying this in the Ukrinform “Samokhvalov asks” program.
“If we are talking about the government sector, then we need to introduce some professional things like cyber security experts in every government institution. Unfortunately, we do not have such a thing, this needs to be recognized,” he said.
Separately, the People’s Deputy said that it was wrong to attack a ministry in Ukraine, for example, and that all other ministries were unaware of it. “There should be one mechanism to respond to all these stories,” the parliamentarian said.
The deputy expressed the opinion that if we talk about the state segment, the state should not regulate anything in the business environment.
“I have a very negative attitude towards this. But at the same time I understand that if we talk about the fact that state institutions depend on the work of some commercial enterprises in the field of cybersecurity, then it is in the hands of the state precisely in the field of cybersecurity… not to interfere with the work of these enterprises, to monitor the implementation of the overall cybersecurity issue,” thinks Fedienko.
Answering the question about his attitude towards “Diya”, the BP representative reported that he has not yet had a negative experience with the use of “Diya” in terms of it endangering him or interfering with his life.
The parliamentarian expressed his belief that digitalization in Ukraine should be further developed.
“Compromising a digital document is much more difficult than compromising a paper document,” Fedienko is convinced.
As reported, Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine has proven that cyberspace is a component of modern warfare and global competition.
