EasyPark reports data breach and contact details stolen

EasyPark reports that hackers stole personal information, including some digits of their IBAN or credit card number.

On December 10th, EasyPark fell victim to a cyberattack. Hackers stole personal customer information. EasyPark speaks of “insensitive customer data”, but the data is interesting for hackers to create specific phishing emails.

EasyPark reports that the following customer data was stolen:

  • Surname
  • Telephone number
  • Physical address and/or email address
  • First digits of the IBAM or credit card number

Since these are only the first digits of the payment method, EasyPark emphasizes that the hackers cannot make any payments. The organization points out that by combining all the data, targeted phishing campaigns are possible. Therefore, be particularly vigilant.

EasyPark has informed all affected customers. In addition, the company works with external security experts to strengthen its infrastructure against cyberattacks. The Smart Parking app remains functional. As is usual in Europe, EasyPark has also informed the responsible authorities.

Anyone secretly hoping to classify some traffic tickets as “fake” due to the cyber attack is out of luck. The manufacturer emphasizes that the hack had no impact on the operation of the app. It did not result in unauthorized parking.
