Over the past few weeks, many changes have been made available to insiders since this is a beta release. If you’ve been paying attention, you may have already noticed a few changes in Windows 11, such as the addition of a character counter to Notepad.

Microsoft announced earlier this month that Windows Speech Recognition would no longer be supported, making voice access an increasingly important feature.

It’s been a while since Microsoft discontinued Windows Speech Recognition, a feature first introduced in Windows Vista. Voice access is much more powerful and is frequently updated with new features. The final beta release of the Windows 11 Insider channel will take place in January 2024. Scroll down to see all the update details:

Windows 11 beta – new features

1. Advanced languages, multi-display support and custom commands for voice access

Extended language support: Windows has advanced speech capabilities for additional languages, including German, French (France), Spanish (Spain), and Spanish (Mexico).

Multiple display support: You can now use all voice access features for different screens, including number layers and grids that are only available on the home screen.

Voice shortcuts: Microsoft will offer voice shortcuts and custom commands so you can follow your instructions. If you use English voice access you can now get this.

2. Improved visibility of screencast

Using Windows PC Casting, you can wirelessly extend your display to a computer, TV, or other nearby external display. They are releasing updates that feature Cast visibility in Windows 11 and educate people about it. This includes:

  • Windows will provide the ability to cast with a notification when you multitask on your computer (such as frequently switching between windows to get work done or using Snap Assist to organize your screen).
  • Added more support for the Cast drop-down menu in Quick Settings; so you don’t have to worry about connection issues, finding adjacent displays, or anything else.
3. New Windows 365 download features and improvements

Special mode to download Windows 365: Windows now offers a new option, Private Mode, for Windows 365 downloads.

You can now use your designated corporate device to launch your Windows 365 Cloud PC. With passwordless authentication methods like Windows Hello for Business, you can easily sign in to your Windows 365 Cloud PC from the Windows 11 sign-in screen.

The new private mode also includes features such as remembering your username, displaying photos on the lock and login screens, and quick account switching that makes it easier to switch login accounts.

A private preview of this feature will be available to Windows 365 users in early 2024.

Customizable company logo and Windows 365 download name: Organizations can now personalize the shared sign-in page by adding their Intune business logo. In early 2024, Windows 365 users will be able to access this feature in private preview.

Fast failover mechanism for Windows 365 boot: You no longer have to wait for the Cloud PC login process to complete, only to find that the Windows 365 download failed due to a network issue or incomplete installation.

To ensure users log in to cloud PC smoothly, smart logic warns users in advance to fix network problems or complete application installation.

Manage local PC settings via Windows 365 downloads: You can now more easily view and control your local PC’s audio, video, and other settings from your cloud PC when using Windows 365 Boot.

4. Windows 365 Key New features and improvements

Improved shutdown for Windows 365 Switch: You can disconnect directly from your local computer to the cloud computer.

To disconnect, go to Local Computer > Task View > right-click the Cloud Computer button. They’ve also added tooltips for shutdown and exit options in the Cloud PC Start menu to help you distinguish between these features.

Desktop indicators to distinguish between a cloud PC and an on-premises PC for Windows 365 Switch: Now when you switch between your own computers, the terms “cloud computer” and “local computer” will appear on your desktop.

Migrating to Windows 365 Frontline Cloud PC: While waiting on the connection page, you will now receive updates on the Cloud PC connection status and connection timeout indicator.

If there is an error, you can now quickly fix it by copying the correlation ID from the error screen using the new copy button.

5. General
  • Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) has been replaced by Voice Access: WSR is no longer supported. When you start WSR, a dialog box appears asking you to test voice access.

We also placed the banner under Settings > Accessibility > Performance. In Windows 11, we added voice access, a new assistive technology that uses speech recognition on your device; so you can create and control your computer without an Internet connection.

In a later release, the use of different languages ​​and custom commands will be allowed (as mentioned earlier, Windows Insiders will now be able to test these capabilities in the beta channel). Windows advises WSR users to grant voice access immediately.

  • Nearby transfer: Once nearby data is added, go to Settings > System > Nearby Sharing. This feature allows you to quickly give your device a nicer name to distinguish access and access.
  • on-screen announcer: Narrator users can now dictate text, use voice interaction with display components, and use voice access to launch applications. Narrator users can provide voice instructions to Narrator using voice access.

6. Update Notepad

Windows is now rolling out the Notepad update (version 11.2311.33.0) to Windows Insiders via the beta channel, bringing with it the following improvements:
