If all goes as planned, SpaceX’s powerful Falcon Heavy rocket will fly again before the end of the year. SpaceX is now targeting Dec. 28 for the launch of the U.S. Space Force X-37B spaceplane, which will fly aboard the Falcon Heavy from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

SpaceX had originally planned to launch the robotic X-37B on December 11. However, about 30 minutes before the planned launch that day, the company canceled the launch due to a problem with ground equipment. If the Heavy flies on December 28 as currently planned, the resulting delay will now extend to up to 17 days.

The upcoming launch will be the seventh launch of the 29-foot-long (8.8 meters) X-37B, which the military says is primarily an orbital test bed for new space technologies.

It is unclear how long the X-37B mission will last; Most details of the spacecraft’s flights are classified, including the identity and destination of most of its payloads. However, it can be assumed that the flight will be long. Each X-37B mission to date has lasted longer than the last; the last one remained in the air for 908 days before returning home in November 2022.

Today Sahin Heavy It has been launched eight times, including four in 2023.

The Heavy, currently the second most powerful rocket in operation after NASA’s Space Launch System, last flew in October of this year when NASA launched the Psyche probe into the asteroid belt.
