“In some settlements, especially in Kiev, there are still difficulties in accessing ‘Home Internet’. Temporarily. We have assigned all our staff to restore the service as soon as possible,” the company said.

It has been reported that Kyivstar has restarted mobile data transfer as of December 17, but it may operate slower than normal. This will continue until the network is stabilized for security reasons.

The operator also restored access to the voice communications service, including roaming. It is planned to activate the SMS service as soon as possible.

Among other things, Kyivstar has begun restoring access to M2M for corporate customers.

As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of December 12, Kyivstar became the target of a powerful hacker attack that caused a technical malfunction. Communication and internet access services became unusable.

The company assured that subscribers’ personal data will not be compromised. They also promised compensation to subscribers who did not have a connection or could not use the operator’s services.

The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the cyber attack on Kyivstar. One of the versions of the investigation involved the participation of Russian special services.

It was learned that Solntsepek, one of the so-called hacker groups of the Russian Federation, claimed responsibility for the attack on Kievstar on December 13.

The cyber attack on Kyivstar in the Verkhovna Rada was called one of the most powerful attacks in the history of communications operators in Europe.
