This year has been a very busy one in the world of video games. In the course of 2023, there were very important and very interesting starts, but we also experienced the arrival of some of the worst games in all of history. Titles like The Day Before and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum are undoubtedly two clear examples of how bad a video game can be, although they are not the only ones.
Metacritic prepared, like every year, a selection with the ten worst games of 2023, and the truth is i quite agree with the games you collected. He did not choose them based on his personal opinion, but only took them into account average score of each gamealso known as “Metascore”.
This score is created average marks obtained in different analyses, and a game had to have at least seven analyzes to be considered. If the title scores very low on different platforms You enter the list only once and that with the lowest score. That seven analysis requirement saved The Day Before from leading this list, that’s for sure.
Of all the games that appear on this list, we have some major failures, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and the Quantum Error. The first was such a big fiasco that it led to the closure of Daedalic, the studio in charge of its development, and the second was promising, especially for the careful technical work, but ended up being a disaster and one of the worst optimized titles of its generation.
Flashback 2 deserves a special mention because it was a sequel to one of the best games of the early nineties. Flashback fell in love with an entire generation of gamersand became one of those great “fetishes” in the history of video games. Expectations were very high, but the sequel ultimately fell short and, to make matters worse, arrived on the market loaded with bugs that were not easy to fix.
